Moving to Meetup

After some hemming and hawing, we have decided to move this group to Meetup. If you are a computer programmer, please join us by signing up at http://www.meetup.com/Tech-Founders-NYC/.

We have decided to make the meetup for programmers only; we feel that this is the best way to keep startup programmers engaged in the process, and in the long term will be the best thing for the local startup scene. If you are an entrepreneur who would like to pitch, as always you can fill out our application form.

Tech Founders NYC: Still alive

I know, I know: It’s been more than two months since the last post here. But after an extended summer vacation, we are coming back with a new event, on Thursday, October 21. So watch this space for an announcement of speakers, coming soon.

As always, we are always interested in hearing from early-stage startups who are looking to find a technical co-founder. If you are one of those startups, please check out our About page.

Gracious Eloise finds its lead techie

Another of our June presenters has found its lead techie. Congrats to Gracious Eloise and its new Director of Engineering, Rebecca Miller-Webster. This means that in the six weeks since our first meeting, three out of our five presenters have hired their lead techie from the people in the room that night.

Birchbox wins Best Pitch for July

Congratulations to Birchbox, which won the audience vote for Best Pitch in Tuesday’s meeting. Birchbox offers an innovative way for cosmetics consumers to sample and buy cosmetic samples, and our crowd of tech founders was impressed by how much work they had been able to accomplish in validating the concept. We’re looking forward to seeing how Birchbox and our other three presenters do in the future.

Simple.PR finds its CTO

We’re happy to announce that Simple.PR now has a new CTO, thanks to meeting at our first Tech Founders NYC meeting. Congrats to Eric Lubow, and to everyone else at Simple.PR. Since Catchafire found its lead techie a few weeks back, that means we’re batting .400 after one month.

If you’re an early-stage entrepreneur who is looking for technical co-founders, read our About page to learn more about our process.

Catchafire finds its CTO

Less than two weeks after our first meetup, we are proud to announce that one of our presenters, Catchafire, has found its CTO. Congratulations to Andrew Lin, and to the rest of Catchafire. And, if you feel like congratulating them in person, Catchafire is having a kickoff party this Monday.

Jake and I are beginning our review process for the next Tech Founders NYC meeting. If you are an early-stage entrepreneur who is looking for a technical co-founders, please read our About page to learn more about our process.
